Ramy Inocencio was elected by AAJA members to serve as Senior Vice President for the 2019 term beginning January 1, 2019. The special election was held to fill the remainder of Michelle Lee’s term as Senior Vice President, as Michelle was elected to serve as National President for the 2019-2020 term.
AAJA will also be holding a special election for Vice President of Journalism Programs to complete the remainder of Ramy’s term in 2019. The call for nominations will be announced Tuesday, October 9 at 5pm PT. The Vice President of Programs-elect will be expected to attend the 2018 AAJA Fall Board Meeting taking place November 16-17, 2018 in San Francisco, California.

Ramy Inocencio is an award-winning anchor and correspondent for Bloomberg Television & Radio and Bloomberg’s digital Daybreak global podcast. On Bloomberg Television, he anchors and reports for the Asia-Pacific’s flagship weekday morning show Bloomberg Daybreak Asia, bridging the U.S. market close with Asia’s market opens. A global journalist with 15 years of experience across the U.S and Asia, Ramy joined Bloomberg from The Wall Street Journal Digital Network in Hong Kong where he covered the Philippine devastation of Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, Hong Kong’s pro-democracy Umbrella Revolution in 2014 and Pope Francis’ first visit to the Philippines in 2015. Prior to The Journal, Ramy served as CNN International’s Asia business correspondent in Hong Kong for World Business Today and as CNN U.S.’ NASDAQ reporter from New York’s Times Square. Ramy is a champion of newsroom diversity, internationalism and volunteerism. He serves as Global Co-Lead of Bloomberg’s Pan-Asian Community (BPAC) and President of the New York alumni chapter of the Hawaii-based East-West Center (EWC). He is a 2009 fellowship recipient of the EWC’s Asia-Pacific Leadership Program and a 2016 recipient of the “50 Best Asian-Americans in Business” Award.
