AAJA Mourns The Loss of Anick Jesdanun

The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Anick Jesdanun, veteran journalist and a longtime member of the AAJA family. Anick, 51, died April 2 of complications from COVID-19.

For decades, Anick, known as Nick, covered technology for The Associated Press. As AP’s first “internet writer,” Nick was at the forefront of documenting the emergence of the internet and new technologies, and their impact on the world. He covered the rise of the internet with sharp insight and a sense of humor, closely reporting on the ways in which it changed our everyday lives, including his own. Nick worked at the AP bureaus in Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Washington, and was most recently based in New York.

An avid runner, Nick inspired his friends and family with his love for running as a way to connect with the world around him. Nick ran 83 marathons in total, including one in Antarctica, according to the AP.

Nick joined AAJA two decades ago, and has been a dear friend and colleague to many of us in the AAJA family. He will be missed.
